SA: Explosion rips apart mail box

ADELAIDE, Dec 28 AAP - An Australia Post mail box was ripped apart by an explosion
in Adelaide's north-east, police said today.

Police said the large explosion occurred at about midnight (CDT) in Athelstone.

The mail box was completely destroyed and letters were strewn throughout the area,
a police spokesman said.

A number of reports of the explosion were received from Athelstone residents, he said.

Investigators were today trying to determine what explosive was used.
