QLD: Hanson hits the campaign trail in state election
One Nation leader PAULINE HANSON has wasted no time hitting the Queensland election
campaign trail after arriving back in Brisbane.
Party secretary SUSAN BOAG says Ms HANSON flew in from Perth just before 5am and went
straight to the Channel Nine studio for an interview.
And after a day of planning strategy and media interviews, Ms HANSON will hold a public
rally in the Brisbane electorate of Woodridge tonight.
Ms HANSON will deliver One Nation's official campaign at Caloundra at 10am on Wednesday.
Queensland's political leaders have voiced their fears of the One Nation impact on
Saturday's state poll, following the party's stunning impact on the weekend's Western
Australian elections.
Newspaper opinion polls have One Nation on eight per cent in Queensland -- well below
the 23 per cent support it got in 1998.
But commentators believe One Nation's support will leap with Ms HANSON campaigning.
Premier PETER BEATTIE has said this will be a terrible week for the government, saying
the Labor could lose.
Opposition leader ROB BORBIDGE says One Nation's showing in WA is a clear sign of what
may happen in Queensland.
