Fendi features fetching feminine detail

MILAN (AP) — Fendi's fashion for next spring and summer brims with fetching feminine detail.

There are pleats and ruffles and swirling stitch work in the womenswear summer/spring 2012 collection presented during Milan Fashion Week on Thursday — but none of it is frivolous.

Designer Karl Lagerfeld masterfully embedded playful details — cutout shoulders, cap sleeves over longer sleeves — into eminently wearable styles that can go from office to leisure to evening.

Colors are mostly muted, with plenty of stripes, in black-and-white or gold-and-white. Even red-and-white stripes in tops and skirts, boldly alternating horizontal and vertical, didn't look loud.
