VIC:Youths kill nesting swan

Youths who attacked and killed a nesting black swan at a Melbourne park have probably
also given her unborn cygnet a death sentence.

Witnesses have told police four male and two female teens are responsible for the attack
at Queens Park yesterday afternoon.

They threw an object at the bird before running off and causing a serious head wound.

A witness rescued the swan .. nursing it for 20 minutes before it died in their arms.

The swan and its mate were the only nesting swans at the park and the father as remained
sitting on the single egg in the nest since the attack but police say the future of the
egg appears grim.
