Argentina: Telefonica and Motorola sign cooperation agreement.

Telefonica has signed a cooperation agreement with Motorola to foster the development of mobile telecommunications, by which Motorola will be a preferred supplier of equipment of Telefonica's operations worldwide, and develop interconnection standards for the commuting platforms used by Telefonica. Telefonica is the major supplier of telecom services in Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries. Its subsidiaries in Europe, Latin America and the US have a potential market of 530mil customers, while Telefonica has 51.5mil subscribers half of which in Latin America. In Argentina Telefonica operates basic telephone services in the North region, and also renders cellular telephone services, Internet access, voice & data communications, and trunking services. In addition it has shares in communications companies such as AtCo, CableVision, Torneos y Competencias, and AC Inversora.
